The squeegee blade or as some would call the "doctor blade" is one of the most important tools in the screen-printing process. Squeegee blades are required to fit the size of the printed area, extending beyond the image 1" to 3", and not the size of screen.

Squeegee blades are available in varied durometor (hardness), depending on their application. In the textile and graphic area 3/8" X 2" is mostly used.

For textile printing a square profile blade in 70 durometor is preferred however, bull nose, composite, double, and triple durometor blades are being used for certain applications.

In graphic printing the square edge profile is most popular in 80 durometor however, as with textile printers composite, double, triple durometor are popular along with some users choosing single and double bevel styles.

For the 3-dimensional printer, 3/16" X 7/8" and 3/16" X 1" are mostly used in 70 through 85 durometor. Squeegee profiles in this segment are usually double bevel or square for manual and automatic printers.
