Rutland's Claira EL series of Non-Phthalate plastisol ink was developed to minimize the impact on our environment. Now its possible for every screen printer who works with plastisol inks to go green. The EH series inks are formulated as a press-ready plastisol for printing on polyester and polyester / cotton blends. They will provide good bleed resistance when printed in the lower mesh range and brilliant colors when used over a LB White underlay. Extremely bad bleeding polyester may require an under base of EL-9746 Super Poly White or EL-0266 Barrier Base for maximum bleed blocking.  EL High Opaque (HO) series is normally printed through mesh ranges from 86 to 200. We recommend using a 70 or 80 durometer squeegee with a sharp edge for maximum definition. Proper cure is achieved when the garment reaches 320 º F.

Substrates:

Formulated as a press ready plastisol for printing on polyester and polyester / cotton blends. For extremely bad bleeding polyester may require an under base of EL-9746 Super Poly White or EL-0266 Barrier Base for maximum bleed blocking.  Caution; Do not dry clean, bleach, or iron the printed image. Claira Colors ™, bases, modifiers, and additives should be mixed in clean vessels using mixed blades and utensils.  Any contamination from other ink sources or non approved additions could make Claira Colors ™ test positive for the restricted phthalates. Note: To 100% cotton users, 100% cotton could have a ghost image appear if printed with low bleed inks.  The EL series are low bleed inks and should not be printed on 100% cotton. For cotton applications you should use the EH series or Matsui water-based inks.

Curing:

Cure at 320 F for 3-minutes for total cure. As with all plastisol prints be sure to test the print area of the fabric for crock fastness and stretching. For a crock test simply wipe the print area vigorously with a white cloth, then examine the white cloth.  Clean wipe passes and color rubbing-off fails.  An exception to this test is found with the use of red and blue inks, which will slightly rub-off.  For stretch testing simply hold the print with both hands and stretch the print to the maximum extent possible, then inspect for cracks in the print area. Stretching without cracking passes while any cracking fails.

Modification:

No extenders are available for the EH series. To thicken use M00010 or M00004.

The High Opacity EL Series is a press-ready, non-phthalate plastisol ink designed for dark garments.
